BMW recalls nearly 30,000 cars - the campaign will affect Kazakhstan
Tengrinews.kz — BMW is recalling 27,720 vehicles in the United States due to potential wear in the connection between the driveshaft and the rear differential.
The recall affects 2022–2026 BMW 840i and 840i xDrive models, 2021–2023 540i, 540i xDrive, and M550i xDrive models, and 2024–2026 750e xDrive models. The recall notice was published by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
According to the document, excessive wear at the connection could lead to a loss of power transmission to the rear wheels. In some instances, if the vehicle is parked and the parking brake is not engaged, the car could roll away unexpectedly.
BMW states that it has not received any reports of accidents or injuries related to this defect at this time.
To resolve the issue, dealers will inspect the connection between the driveshaft and the rear differential. Depending on the level of wear, one of several repair options will be chosen.
In cases of minor wear, the connection will be treated with a special lubricant. If the wear is found to be excessive, BMW will replace both the driveshaft and the rear differential.
Repairs will be free of charge for owners. The company plans to begin sending out recall notifications by October 2, 2026.
