Traffic on section of Tole Bi street in Almaty to be restricted for two nights
Tengrinews.kz — Traffic will be restricted on a section of Tole Bi Street in Almaty for two nights.
The restrictions are related to the LRT project. From 11:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. on August 21 and 22, traffic will be completely closed on the section from Nauryzbay Batyr Street to Seifullin AvenuePhoto: @AlmatyJoly
Specialists will be relocating utility networks on this section.
Drivers are advised to take the restrictions into account and choose alternative routes in advance. Warning road signs will be installed at the site.
When the LRT will be completed and where it will run
Earlier, the city administration said that the first LRT line, 18.3 kilometers long, will follow the former tram route. It will connect the industrial zone of Alatau District with the Almaty-2 railway station.
The route will run along Baurzhan Momyshuly Street and Tole Bi Street, then along Abylai Khan Avenue to the Raiymbek Batyr transport hub.
“The planned LRT line will be a double-track route 18.3 kilometers long, connecting the Daraboz, 13, Gazhayyp, Nurkent, Alatau City and Almaly residential areas with the city center. The line will run mainly along a dedicated right-of-way on Momyshuly and Tole Bi streets and Abylai Khan Avenue,” the document for public discussion of the first phase of Almaty’s LRT construction stated.
The line will have 34 passenger platforms: 12 island platforms and 22 side platforms. The track gauge will be 1,435 millimeters.
Tole Bi Street will have 4 island and 15 side stations.
Momyshuly Street will have 5 island and 5 side stations.
Abylai Khan Avenue will have 3 island and 2 side stations.
Construction is planned to run from April 2027 to April 2029.
