Details on the construction project
According to the Astana Akimat, construction of the transport tunnel on Almaty Street continues in the Yesil district. Major works are already underway at the site: specialists are dismantling existing infrastructure, relocating utilities, and preparing the site for the construction of the underground section. The total length of the structure will exceed 800 meters. This includes the 305-meter tunnel itself, a 265-meter approach from Mangilik El Avenue, and another 238-meter approach from Sauran Street.
According to visualizations released by the Akimat, the finished tunnel will feature four lanes—two in each direction—with a clearance height of 5.5 meters. The new transport facility is being built near the Presidential Library currently under construction. The Akimat noted that the tunnel will be part of a new interchange, designed to increase road network capacity and reduce the traffic load on surrounding streets.
