Kazakhstan’s busiest toll roads revealed
Tengrinews.kz — Nearly 45 million vehicle trips were recorded on Kazakhstan’s toll sections of national highways in the first seven months of 2026. The Almaty–Konaev section was the busiest route.
According to KazAvtoZhol, 44,954,050 vehicle trips were recorded on toll roads between January 1 and July 31.
Almaty–Konaev becomes the busiest route
The highest number of trips was recorded on the Almaty–Konaev section — 7,149,537, accounting for nearly 16 percent of the total. On average, about 33,700 trips were recorded there per day.
The Shymkent–Uzbekistan border section ranked second with 5,463,475 trips, followed by the Shymkent–Taraz route with 3,784,782.
The top five also included:
Taraz–Kainar — 3,289,935 trips;
Shymkent–Kyzylorda — 2,736,666 trips.
This means the heaviest traffic was concentrated in the Almaty agglomeration and southern Kazakhstan. Four southern routes — Shymkent–Uzbekistan border, Shymkent–Taraz, Taraz–Kainar and Shymkent–Kyzylorda — together accounted for more than 15.2 million trips.
Traffic on roads near Astana
High traffic volumes were also recorded on routes connecting the capital with other regions.
The Astana–Temirtau section recorded 2,293,893 trips, Astana–Shchuchinsk — 2,219,653, and Astana–Pavlodar — 1,401,004.

Next in the ranking were Shchuchinsk–Kokshetau with 1,520,485 trips, Almaty–Khorgos with 1,500,567, Astana–Pavlodar with 1,401,004, Kokshetau–Petropavlovsk with 1,075,805, and Kyzylorda–Aralsk with 1,064,024.
The Balkhash–Burylbaital section recorded 942,450 trips, Aktobe–Russian border (Orenburg) — 779,128, and Pavlodar–Semey–Kalbatau — 746,120.
The lowest figures in the ranking were recorded on the Beineu–Akzhigit section with 87,198 trips and Burylbaital–Kurty with 36,259.
However, data for three newly tolled sections cannot be directly compared with the others. The Karaganda–Balkhash–Burylbaital and Burylbaital–Kurty sections only switched to toll operation on July 10, while Taldykorgan–Ust-Kamenogorsk became a toll road on July 11, 2026. Their statistics therefore cover only part of July.
KazAvtoZhol noted that traffic intensity data helps assess the load on key transport corridors and can be taken into account when planning road maintenance, roadside services and further development of transport infrastructure.
