New rules for purchases on Temu and AliExpress: important statement
Tengrinews.kz – The State Revenue Committee of the Ministry of Finance has announced a postponement of the entry into force of new customs regulation rules for online goods. They were supposed to take effect on July 1 of this year.
According to the committee’s press service, all member states of the Eurasian Economic Union were expected to prepare for the new trade rules by that date.
“However, as of today, one EAEU member state has not completed the domestic procedures required to ratify the amendments and additions to the EAEU Customs Code. In this regard, the unified rules cannot enter into force simultaneously across all member states of the Union, so the date of their introduction is being postponed,” the statement said.
The new effective date will be announced later, after all EAEU countries complete the necessary domestic procedures and the relevant decision is adopted.
“We ask participants in foreign economic activity, e-commerce operators and other interested parties to take this information into account when planning their activities,” the State Revenue Committee warned.
Context
Earlier, we reported that Kazakhstan’s legislation is introducing new rules for purchasing goods from abroad via the internet. Mandatory customs duties will be introduced for goods ordered from foreign marketplaces.
The rules for shopping on foreign websites such as Amazon, AliExpress, Temu and others are changing significantly due to new EAEU regulations.
Now, everything ordered from foreign online stores will no longer be considered ordinary goods for personal use. They have been placed in a separate category: “e-commerce goods.”
