Kazhydromet warned residents of Astana, Almaty and three other cities

Tengrinews.kz – Kazhydromet has published a warning for residents of Astana, Almaty and three other cities on its official website.
The information concerns the air quality forecast for Wednesday.

“On June 17, unfavorable meteorological conditions are expected in the cities of Balkhash, Aktobe and Almaty, and at night in Kostanay and Astana,” the statement said.

Unfavorable meteorological conditions involving air pollution are a combination of short-term meteorological factors — calm weather, light wind, fog and inversion — that contribute to the accumulation of harmful pollutants in the ground-level layer of atmospheric air.
According to forecasters, Astana will see partly cloudy weather, with short-term rain and thunderstorms during the day. Southeasterly wind is expected at 2–7 m/s at night and 7–12 m/s during the day, with gusts of up to 15 m/s. The air temperature will be 16–18°C at night and reach 31–33°C during the day.
In Almaty, partly cloudy weather is expected, with light rain and thunderstorms during the day. Southwesterly wind will be 3–8 m/s, with gusts of up to 13 m/s during the day. The air temperature will be 21–23°C at night, with intense heat of 33–35°C during the day.
In Aktobe, it will be mostly clear with no precipitation. Variable winds of 1–6 m/s are expected. The air temperature will be 17–19°C at night and reach 30–32°C during the day.
In Balkhash, partly cloudy weather with no precipitation is forecast. Northeasterly wind will be 1–4 m/s. The air temperature will be 22–24°C at night and reach 31–33°C during the day.
In Kostanay, partly cloudy weather is expected, with rain and thunderstorms during the day. Fog is forecast at night and in the morning. Northwesterly wind will be 4–9 m/s. The air temperature will be 16–18°C at night and 28–30°C during the day.
