Nearly half of applications rejected: what is happening with U.S. visas
Tengrinews.kz – What is behind the frequent refusals to issue U.S. visas to Kazakhstanis? This question was put to Yerlan Zhetybayev, official representative of Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
“Not long ago, the Deputy Foreign Minister said that Kazakhstanis are refused U.S. visas in 50 percent of cases. What is the reason for such frequent refusals?” the question was asked at a Foreign Ministry briefing.
Zhetybayev replied that Kazakhstanis are indeed often refused American visas — according to him, in 45 percent of cases.
“First of all, this is related to document compliance. There is a certain list. If everything complies, if there have been no violations by the citizen and all documents are in order, then the state makes a decision to issue a visa. If something is wrong with the documents, the citizen is usually asked clarifying questions and additional documents are requested. When they are provided, as far as I know, visas are approved in most cases. These are mainly technical issues related to documents,” the ministry representative said.
He emphasized that in some countries the list of documents is larger, while in others it is smaller. At the same time, even if the list is short, cases of non-compliance with requirements still arise — when filling out the application form, arranging insurance, or providing tickets.
