British pair set new Olympic track cycling records
British pair Jason Kenny and Callum Skinner set new Olympic records on the cycling track in Rio on Friday.
A day after the pair helped Britain win team sprint gold at the velodrome, they both went faster than Kenny's mark from the London Games four yeas ago in the individual sprint.
In qualifying, Skinner first set a new mark of 9.703sec for the 200m sprint, beating Kenny 's London time of 9.713.
After Australian Matthew Glaetzer had also beaten the old mark with a 9.704 ride, Kenny smashed the new record as he posted an incredible run of 9.551.
It sets up the British duo as favourites in the event won by Kenny in London.
The sprint event will now see several rounds of one-on-one action culminating in Sunday's final.
