Vietnam's Hoang wins 10m air pistol gold in Rio
Vietnam's Hoang Xuan Vinh produced a pinpoint last shot to deny Olympic Games hosts Brazil an opening day gold medal on Saturday.
Hoang duelled with Brazil's Felipe Almeida Wu for the men's 10m air pistol title, Wu taking the lead after the penultimate shot only for Hoang to deny him with a near-perfect effort to close.
The 41-year-old Vietnamese claimed the title with a total points haul of 202.5, with Wu in silver only .3 adrift.
Bronze went to Pang Wei while South Korean defending champion Jin Jongoh came in fifth.
