Heads of state continue to express condolences in connection with the Caspian tragedy

Tengrinews.kz — Foreign heads of state and leaders of international organizations continue to send telegrams of condolence to President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev following the deaths of military personnel during exercises in the Caspian Sea.

The Akorda press service released this information on Friday, September 25.

The telegrams express steadfast support and solidarity with the people of Kazakhstan during this difficult time.

Sharing in the deep sorrow of all Kazakhstani citizens, foreign leaders extended their sincere condolences to the families and loved ones of the deceased, the press release stated. Telegrams were received from President Emomali Rahmon of Tajikistan, President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan, President Alexander Lukashenko of Belarus, President Emmanuel Macron of France, President Aleksandar Vucic of Serbia, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President of Vietnam To Lam, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan of Armenia, Head of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, and the heads of several international organizations.

The Kazakh leader expressed his gratitude for the condolences and support of the international community, the statement noted.

Earlier, the presidents of Russia, Uzbekistan, and Kyrgyzstan—Vladimir Putin, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and Sadyr Japarov—expressed their condolences to Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the families of the victims, and the people of Kazakhstan.

On September 24, 17 servicemen were swept out into the Caspian Sea during naval exercises in the Mangistau region. Three were rescued. On the morning of September 25, the bodies of the last two missing personnel were recovered. A total of 14 servicemen died as a result of the tragedy.
