Vehicles will not be able to cross Kazakhstan-China border due to holiday
Tengrinews.kz – On September 25, 2026, people, vehicles and cargo will not be allowed through road checkpoints on the Kazakh-Chinese border. This was reported by the State Revenue Committee.
The restriction is connected with China’s celebration of the Mid-Autumn Festival.
The State Revenue Committee urged carriers and citizens to take the restriction into account in advance when planning trips and border crossings.
At the same time, railway checkpoints on the Kazakh-Chinese border will continue operating as usual.
What kind of holiday is it
The Mid-Autumn Festival is celebrated on the 15th day of the eighth lunar month, which falls on September 25 in 2026. On this day, people traditionally give each other so-called mooncakes.
Although many modern Chinese people do not follow the lunar calendar, everyone celebrates the Mid-Autumn Festival, partly because it gives people in China three days off.
In Beijing, road travel restriction rules do not apply on weekends.
