Tokayev approves regulations on Security Council and its Office

Tengrinews.kz – President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has signed a decree “On Certain Issues of the Office of the Security Council of the Republic of Kazakhstan and on Amendments and Additions to Certain Acts of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan,” citing Akorda.
The decree approved the regulations on the Security Council and its Office, and also defined the scope of powers of the Deputy Chairman of the Security Council.
The tasks of the Security Council and its Office include a comprehensive analysis of global threats and challenges, as well as current aspects of the domestic situation.
The powers of the Deputy Chairman of the Security Council include organizing control over the full and unconditional implementation of acts and instructions of the Chairman of the Security Council, decisions of the Security Council, including those adopted at operational meetings, as well as coordinating the activities of state bodies and organizations in implementing measures related to national security, the country’s defense capability, legality and public order.
The Deputy Chairman of the Security Council will also deal with issues of information and cybersecurity, including the use of artificial intelligence, personal data protection, combating corruption and economic crime, and civil protection.
In addition, the Deputy Chairman of the Security Council coordinates the activities of state bodies and organizations in implementing the above-mentioned measures, and also carries out international cooperation. The Deputy Chairman of the Security Council also coordinates the work of the Security Council Office.
The Security Council Office, as an independent state body, is directly subordinate and accountable to the Head of State.
The activities of the Security Council Office are aimed at strengthening and improving control over risks in the field of national security, ensuring the stability of public administration, providing institutional support and implementing the decisions of the Chairman of the Security Council and the Security Council of Kazakhstan itself.

“The implementation of these tasks is aimed at strengthening the protection of the sovereignty and independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan, its territorial integrity, national interests on the international stage and the foundations of the constitutional order,” Akorda said in a statement.

As a reminder, on August 29, the Head of State signed a decree “On Measures to Further Improve the Public Administration System of the Republic of Kazakhstan,” under which the Security Council Office was established as a state body directly subordinate and accountable to the President.
