Trump's explanation for Jesus post backfires
President Donald Trump deleted a Sunday post depicting him as a Christ-like figure healing a bedridden man, but defended it Monday, claiming the image showed him as a Red Cross doctor rather than Jesus Christ.
Standing outside the Oval Office beside a DoorDash driver, Trump blamed "fake news" for the interpretation. His explanation failed to convince critics and supporters alike, who found the claim implausible.
Social media users mocked his characterization, with one noting, "My favorite part of going to the doctor is when he touches my forehead holding the glowing orb of light."
Reuters reporter Michael Derby questioned whether the image resembled a doctor at all.
Observers suggested the explanation raised more questions than answers, with some arguing the confusion itself warranted invoking the 25th Amendment. The post had triggered outrage from conservative supporters who considered it blasphemous.
