Danny Mendick forced his way back onto the White Sox roster with his monstrous run in Charlotte. Mendick earned back-to-back South Side Sox Knights Player of the Week awards with his 193 wRC+ across 67 plate appearances with them. Triple-A pitchers struggled mightily to retire him, and for a week, if you blinked, you may have missed a home run. The Knights benefited massively from having him in the lineup, and so far, Mendick has fared pretty well in his return to the majors. Congratulations to our superutilityman on his fantastic month!

It was a fantastic month for the Barons, who have propelled themselves to the top of the Southern League standings. As a result, there was some stiff competition for the Barons Player of the Month distinction, but Drew Thorpe takes this honor. Thorpe was lights-out from start to finish, confusing hitters across 30 innings during April. Thorpe was one of the return pieces from the Dylan Cease trade, and so was fellow starter (and POTM runner-up) Jairo Iriarte. The early returns on both of them are extremely positive.
Brooks Baldwin, who was extremely difficult to retire, and Ky Bush, who was also top-notch on the mound, also deserve honorable mention. On most minor league teams, both of them would have been the Player of the Month, but alas, they are on the same team as Thorpe.

José Ramírez 0.77 ERA, 11 2⁄3 IP, 4 BB, 10 K
The Dash did not get much offense, which was not overly surprising given how few top prospects are on the roster. However, they did have a couple of contributors on the mound who had a great April. Eric Adler was completely dominant from the bullpen, delivering nine shutout innings and collecting five saves in five attempts. During those nine innings, Adler struck out 14 while only allowing three hits, so even making contact was an issue for opposing hitters. Adler has already been promoted to Double-A Birmingham, so congratulations to him on the great month and promotion.
Reliever José Ramírez was also very difficult for opposing hitters to solve, so he deserves honorable mention.

Aldrin Batista really made his time on the mound count. Among starting pitchers in the White Sox organization, Batista led the way in terms of ERA, narrowly edging out Thorpe (1.20), Bush (1.27), and Iriarte (1.46). Batista is still 20 (although he turns 21 this week), but his numbers are outstanding across the board. The three true outcomes were all very favorable, as he struck out 19, walked only three, and allowed zero home runs. Overall, this month was a big step in the right direction for the young pitcher.
