Groundbreaking held for new ice rink, recreational facility in Glenville
Plans to renovate the Schenectady County ice rink took a step forward on Monday.
GLENVILLE, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Plans to renovate the Schenectady County ice rink took a step forward on Monday. A groundbreaking was held for an expansion project at the Schenectady County Recreational Facility in Glenville.
Construction crews will add four new locker rooms, a new activities room, and expand the parking lot. The rink hosts hundreds of hockey games each year as well as skating classes. Officials said the project is a worthy investment.
"We're not just upgrading a rink," Schenectady County Legislator Richard Patierne said. "We're creating a space where families can come together, where children can learn and grow, and where memories can be made and last a lifetime."
The cost of the $5 million project will be covered through federal COVID relief funds. Construction is expected to be finished in the fall.
