ITV to rival BBC’s Gladiators reboot as it brings back beloved endurance competition series a year after its axe
GLADIATORS will be back for a second series, but will go up against rival ITV show.
Following the success of the revived Gladiators series on BBC One, ITV are repeating Ninja Warrior UK: Race For Glory in the time same slot in April.
Four contestants are battling it out in the final episode of Gladiators this Saturday[/caption]ITV axed Ninja Warrior UK: Race for Glory in February after it aired in Autumn 2022.
The show differed from Ninja Warrior UK as it had a knockout competition structure with new courses, new obstacles, and bigger challenges designed as the ultimate test of strength, speed and courage.
They hunted to find two champions as the UK’s top female and male competitors take on the toughest and most challenging course ever and be crowned Ninja Warrior UK Men and Women’s Champions.
They also had to face the Elite Ninjas, a team of professional Ninja Warrior athletes determined to beat them in head-to-head races.
The show was set aside this year to make room for the live sporting events.
Meanwhile, Gladiators has been a huge success since the revived series aired ten weeks ago on BBC One.
It returned to TV screens for the first time in nearly 24 years.
The BBC rebooted the iconic sports entertainment show that ran between 1992 and 2000.
Hosted by Bradley Walsh and his son Barney Walsh, the programme features classic challenges from the original as well as new games.
The new Gladiators include an England rugby union player and a fitness YouTuber.
The BBC has confirmed that the champ will be crowned on Saturday 30th March.
The four finalists will take to the arena one last time to see who will walk away as the champion of Gladiators 2024.
The show will air at 5:50pm on BBC One, but if you it you can catch up on iPlayer.
It has also been announced that the show will return for another a second series of the BBC reboot.
A TV source said: “The viewing figures are proof that there is still a big appetite for Gladiators after all these years.”
And now ITV have announced Ninja Warrior UK: Race For Glory will also air in the time same slot.
