Met Office reveals first forecast for Christmas Day – and whether it will snow on December 25
THE Met office has revealed its first forecast for Christmas Day – and whether it will snow.
Meteorologists have today given their first insight into December 25, which is handy for those trying to make festive plans.
The Met Office has released their Christmas forecast[/caption]In the Met Office’s long-range forecast, they’re expected the UK will get more settled weather, with normal temperatures for that time of year.
However, there’s a chance of rain – with drier days, too – and the possibility temperatures will plummet.
And will it be a white Christmas? We don’t know – there is no mention of snow, just overnight frost and fog.
The forecast read: “Confidence remains low for this period.

“Conditions are expected to be more settled than of late, with the potential for high pressure to be located close to the UK, at least at first.
“With time, however, we may see a return to frontal systems moving in from the west, with drier interludes between.
“Whilst temperatures may average out close to normal overall, colder conditions are possible at times, with a risk of overnight frost and fog.”

It comes after torrential rain sparked flood alerts and weather warnings today.
The Met Office has issued three yellow weather warnings, two of which last for the whole weekend, while 52 flood alerts are in place as heavy rainfall and gusts of up to 55mp batter the country.
