The OAA’s biennial awards program, SHIFT2023 Challenge: Health and Architecture, is now open for online submissions until January 13, 2023.
The program highlights the distinct contribution the architecture profession brings to addressing key societal issues. OAA members that are on the path to licensure, as well as their teams are invited to respond to an identified area of concern using their insights. Previous iterations of SHIFT have focused on infrastructure and resiliency; the theme for this year is human health.
The SHIFT2023 Challenge asks those in the profession to explore the intersection of architecture and human health, and examine how innovative ideas could improve happiness and well-being: “At scales ranging from a room to a building to an entire city (or beyond), how can new architectural approaches offer better health outcomes?”
Entries must comprise text and supporting images, along with a short video to serve as the “elevator pitch” for your idea.
Those submissions selected by a jury will then become the basis of a broader conversation on the issue promoted by the OAA, including a book publication, media outreach and an event at the 2023 OAA Conference in Sudbury
For more information on how to participate, visit the SHIFT website.
