I’m a relationship expert – why blokes like Adam Levine stray from hotter partners… and the one trait they ALL share
BEING married to a Victoria’s Secret model or one of the world’s most beautiful singers would be a dream come true to most men.
But, this week, Maroon 5 star Adam Levine has been accused of cheating on pregnant supermodel wife Behati Prinsloo, as well as sending X-rated messages to several other women, including his yoga instructor.
And Shakira has spoken out about her devastation over her marriage split after husband Gerard Pique fell for a PR girl 22 years her junior.
So why do men with beautiful and successful partners still feel the need to stray?
“To all intents and purposes these men have secured relationships with faithful lovers who, on a looks basis alone, leave them lagging far behind,” says TV psychologist and relationship expert Emma Kenny.
“Sadly, it seems that certain men who have access to other beautiful women simply cannot stop themselves from straying.”

Adam Levine and Behati Prinsloo
The Maroon 5 star wed Victoria’s Secret model Behati in 2014 and they have two daughters – Dusty Rose, eight, and Gio Grace, four.
Last week, it was revealed that the couple are expecting their third child together but that happy news has now been marred by a slew of cheating allegations against the singer.
Instagram model Summer Stroh claimed the couple had a year-long affair, an allegation which he denies.
But he was forced to admit he sent “inappropriate messages” to Sumner, saying he “crossed a line.”
In another damning detail, Sumner claims he contacted her again recently to ask if he could name his baby after her.
Adam is said to have asked: “Ok serious question. I’m having another baby and if it’s [a] boy I really wanna name it Sumner.”
The claims were followed by allegations from four more women claiming he had sent them saucy messages, including his former yoga teacher Alanna Zabel.
Alanna, who trained him from 2007 to 2010, says a text message read: “I want to spend the day with you naked,” led to her then-boyfriend flying into a jealous rage.
In a statement, Adam said he used “poor judgment in speaking with anyone other than my wife in ANY kind of flirtatious manner. I did not have an affair, nevertheless, I crossed the line during a regrettable period of my life.”
He added. “My wife and my family is all I care about in this world. To be this naive and stupid enough to risk the only thing that truly matters to me was the greatest mistake I could ever make.”
Emma says: “Adam appears to embody the caricature of a rock star experiencing a mid-life crisis, who wishes to prove to himself again, and again that he is still desirable.
“The egocentricity he displays is clear, and his lack of conscience in repeating these patterns of behaviour speaks to a level of entitlement within his personality.”
Shakira and Gerard Pique
Shakira has revealed her devastation over her split from footballer Gerard Pique, after a 12-year romance, saying it’s one of the most difficult, darkest hours of my life”.
The couple, who met in 2010 when he appeared in her Waka Waka video, have two children, Milan, nine, and Sasha, seven.
The relationship broke down amid rumours the Barcelona star, 34, was cheating with a much younger woman, in June, and she was said to be hurt and angry when he went public with new love Clara Chia Marti, 23.
In an interview in Elle this week, Shakira slammed her ex and said she had put his career and the happiness of the two children first at all times.
“I put my career in second gear and I came to Spain, to support him so he could play football and win titles.” she says. “And it was a sacrifice of love.”
Emma says: “Shakira is known the world over for her success and beauty, but this hasn’t prevented her from being dumped by her ex who has now moved on with a 23-year-old.
“The excitement that new relationships present can be captivating and intoxicating and the lustful love life these new romances offer can feel temporarily appealing.
“Gerard Pique was rich before he met Shakira, he is a man who has wanted for little his entire life and he is entitled because of this.
“It is likely that as she has grown older, and become a mother that the attraction he had towards her has faded. He appears to have traded her in for a newer model which speaks to an emotional immaturity within this football player.”
Sebastian Bear-McClard and Emily Ratajkowski
Model Emily Ratajkowski has topped many a “Sexiest woman alive” list and she shocked fans when she walked down the aisle with little-known producer Sebastian Bear-McClard in February 2018, just weeks after they started dating.
Their son, Sylvester Apollo Bear, was born in 2021 but the pair split in July, following rumours that Sebastian cheated on his Victoria’s Secret model wife.
A source told Page Six: “He cheated. He’s a serial cheater. It’s gross. He’s a dog.”
They added that she “discovered even more sh** he did behind her back”.
Emma says: “Sebastian Bear-McClard is an average looking guy that you are unlikely to have heard of, unlike A-lister ex Emily Ratajkowski.
“He was her rebound relationship that went too far, too fast meaning she had little time to realise she was marrying a serial cheater.
“It’s likely that he saw Emily as a stepping stone to his career goals, and once he gained vicarious status, he took full advantage of his new position.
“Psychologically, he probably realised that he was punching in the looks department and needed to validate his attractiveness by cheating with other women. His behaviour has entitlement at its core.”
Denise Van Outen and Eddie Boxshall
Stunning star Denise, 48, has amassed an estimated fortune of £3million through her 20 years career on TV.
She met city trader Eddie Boxshall in 2014 and four years later, he was sacked from city firm SCB and Associates for “gross misconduct and material dishonesty”.
Dad-of-two Eddie moved in with the presenter in 2019 and he became her co-star in Celebrity Gogglebox.
But in January this year, they split after Denise discovered he had been sexting other women.
Eddie admitted to sending 20 flirty messages and said he was “absolutely gutted” when Denise threw him out.
But he also hit out at their relationship in an Instagram story, sharing a note that reads: “I’d rather be alone than be with someone who makes me feel lonely.”
Denise told Radio 4: “The one thing I’m really proud of myself for is I do know when to walk away and I don’t like to be taken advantage of.”
Emma says: “Denise Van Outen is beautiful, funny and relatable and way more attractive than her ex-Eddie Boxshall.
“It seems that this relationship was very one-sided with Eddie getting all the perks and benefits and it would be unsurprising if he was envious of her fame and social-standing, and used cheating to bolster his entitled ego.
“When he found himself in the spotlight because of her success, he mistakenly believed he was more powerful and important than he actually was, and used this faux fame to cheat.”
Christine and Paddy McGuinness
Christine McGuinness was a 19-year-old bikini model when comedian Paddy, who is 14 years older, chatted her up at a tennis tournament in Liverpool and the couple married four years later, in 2011.
The couple have three children – twins Leo and Penelope, eight, and Felicity, five – and have openly talked about their autism diagnoses.
But in 2018, the marriage was rocked after pictures of Paddy on a night out with Nicole Appleton emerged.
Although they patched things up the couple announced they had split in July, amid unconfirmed rumours Paddy, 48, had cheated on her by kissing a TV co-star.
Christine is said to have learned about the rumours from a TV crew while filming The Games in April.
“Paddy wasn’t around at all during The Games and the more people got to know Christine, the more they felt she deserved to know what he’d been up to,” a source told The Sun.
“A number of them told her about the kiss and that he’d been unfaithful. She was very hurt and upset.”
Emma says: “Whilst Christine is less famous than her ex-husband to be, in the looks department she is streets ahead and has provided him with a loyal and supportive partner for many years.
“Fame brings the money to do what you want. You can have lavish holidays, beautiful homes and designer clothes, and this can make everything feel possible, and disposable.
