CONOR MCGREGOR has been urged to snub the lightweight division’s big boys and take a “winnable fight” against Tony Ferguson for his UFC return.
The Notorious has lost three of his last four outings at 155lbs – most recently suffering back-to-back defeats to former interim champion Dustin Poirier.
The Notorious is currently on a two-fight skid[/caption]McGregor, 33, appears to be planning on jumping back in with a top contender in the stacked division for his comeback later this year.
But fellow former two-division champion Henry Cejudo believes the Irishman should target a showdown with the out-of-form Tony Ferguson – who has lost his last four in a row.
On a recent episode of The Triple C & The Schmo Show, he said: “For Conor McGregor, I like the Tony Ferguson fight for him. I think that fight is winnable for Conor.
“He cannot be taking these high-level competitions, he’s gonna get hurt.

“He’s gonna continue to keep getting hurt, you know what I’m saying?”
Cejudo believes McGregor should use ex-interim lightweight king Ferguson as a tune-up fight due to his inactivity in recent years.
He continued: “I think, he goes up with Tony, and then maybe, of course, he’s a cash cow, give him whoever he wants at 55 or 70, but I think he needs to get his feet wet.
“At least f****** win, man. Win a damn fight.”

McGregor’s recent training videos have been regularly critiqued by Cejudo, who believes there are several “flaws” in Mystic Mac’s game.
He said: “I critique Conor McGregor’s videos and I tend to make a freaking living off that. It’s crazy because there’s a lot of flaws that he has.
“As good as he was in the past, there’s still a lot of flaws that he has that he’s still not fixing. So I’m still not sold on that chump.”
McGregor is currently in the final stages of recovering from the horrific broken leg he suffered in his trilogy fight with Poirier last July.
The pride of Dublin had been eyeing a summer return to the octagon but UFC president Dana White expects him to be back in action in the autumn.

He told SunSport: “We’re looking at early fall, if everything goes right.
“If his leg heals right and he gets the clearance to really start training, then possibly early fall.”
