Western Onondaga County in central New York...
North central Tompkins County in central New York...
* Until 130 PM EDT.
* At 1235 PM EDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line
extending from near Canoga to Levanna to King Ferry to near Locke,
moving north at 35 mph.
HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage
to roofs, siding, and trees.
* Locations impacted include...
Onondaga, Syracuse, Clay, Auburn, Lysander, Van Buren,
Baldwinsville, North Syracuse, Seneca Falls and Solvay.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Prepare immediately for large hail and damaging winds. People outside
should move immediately to shelter inside a strong building. Stay
away from windows.
If on or near several of the Finger Lakes, including the north end
of Cayuga Lake, get away from the water and move indoors or inside a
vehicle. Remember, lightning can strike out to 15 miles from the
parent thunderstorm. If you can hear thunder, you are close enough
to be struck by lightning. Move to safe shelter now! Do not be
caught on the water in a thunderstorm.
Heavy rainfall is occurring with these storms, and may lead to flash
flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
