Warning! Spoilers for Star Wars: Crimson Reign #4
In an upcoming comic, the Knights of Ren are breaking into Darth Vader’s Castle on Mustafar to steal a mystery item. While Star Wars: Crimson Reign continues to explore territory left ambiguous by the franchise, the throwaway characters from the sequel trilogy have been employed with an important task.
Following up the War of the Bounty Hunters crossover event, Qi’ra is waging war against the Empire. In the process, she has united many members of the Star Wars underworld, including the Sith assassin Ochi of Bestoon, and the Knights of Ren. Each member of her crime syndicate and the associating partners has a job to do, and the Knights are finally getting the spotlight in an upcoming issue. The series written by Charles Soule with art by Steven Cummings and a cover by Leinil Francis Yu.
In a new preview released by StarWars.com, Crimson Reign #4 teases the Knights of Ren’s heist on Mustafar as they retrieve an unidentified object from Vader’s Castle. Before the limited series comes to a conclusion with its fifth issue, Kylo Ren’s future team of First Order henchmen are carrying out their mission for Crimson Dawn. Taking orders from Qi’ra, the Knights had previously conspired to invader Fortress Vader, making their presence known by the Empire. The issue is set to release in April.
Based on the released main cover, it seems that the original leader of the Knights, Ren, might be facing Darth Vader during the heist. As the only Knight wielding a lightsaber, he is the only one truly qualified to fight the Sith. Fans who read The Rise of Kylo Ren know that the group later decreases in number, following an unexplained event. The Knights’ heist at Fortress Vader might go wrong, causing Darth to take down Crimson Dawn’s associated band of villains.
Crimson Reign #4 comes with a myriad of variant covers including one by David Nakayama, a “connecting” variant by Ario Anindito, a “warriors of dawn” variant by Valerio Giangiordano, a Sabacc card variant by David Lopez, a “syndicate” variant by Khoi Pham, a “knights of dawn” variant by Rahzzah, an “enemies of dawn” variant by Clayton Crain, a “traitor of dawn” variant by Paul Renaud. With the announced accompanying covers, there seems to be a lot that the issue will explore. As the Knights of Ren embark on their heist, Crimson Dawn is one step closer to enacting revenge on the Empire.
