BAYERN MUNICH currently lead the race to sign Chelsea forward Timo Werner in January.
Sky Bet currently price the German giants as 9/2 favourites to secure the signature of the Chelsea striker, who has failed to hit the heights expected of him in England.
Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund are also thought to be potential destinations for the German, with Sky Bet offering 9/1 and 10/1 respectively on the two, and 16/1 for a return to his old club Leipzig.
Werner’s final season at Leipzig was under the management of Julian Nagelsmann, who is now in charge of Bayern Munich and linked with taking the German back to his home country.
To sign Timo Werner in January 2022:
- Bayern Munich 9/2
- Barcelona 9/1
- Borussia Dortmund 10/1
- Leipzig 16/1
The 25-year-old was signed by Chelsea for £48m by Frank Lampard back in the summer of 2020, in a window of big spending by the west London side.
The Blues had been placed under a transfer embargo the previous season, and Lampard had managed to secure a top four finish with a 22-year-old Tammy Abraham leading the line.
The hope was with the signings of Werner, a proven goalscorer in Germany, along with Kai Havertz, Ben Chilwell and Hakim Ziyech among others, the club would be able to mount a serious title challenge.

Werner had bagged 28 goals in 34 league games for Leipzig the previous season, but only managed six in 35 for Chelsea in his first season as Lampard was sacked in January with the club in ninth position.
Fellow German Thomas Tuchel was appointed as successor and dragged the club to a top four finish, winning the Champions League in the process.
Werner’s barren run in front of goal saw Chelsea make the £104m signing of Romelu Lukaku from Inter Milan last summer, all but confirming Werner’s starting spot on the bench for the majority of the season.
The German has scored just the one league goal this season and was unfortunate to be struck by injury in the same week Lukaku was, meaning he couldn’t fight for his starting spot in the absence of the Belgian.
