Terrifying moment entire building collapses after Turkey earthquake
This is the terrifying moment a building collapsed after a magnitude 7 earthquake shook Turkey on Friday (October 30th).
The apartment block in the city of Izmir was damage following the tremors shortly before 2 pm local time. It then gave way and plunged to the ground in front of horrified neighbours.
Onlooker, Osman, said: ''This was what happened after the earthquake in Izmir. Our pain is great. May God let us live happily again.''
The magnitude 7 earthquake hit the Aegean sea region causing a tsunami and leaving at least 17 people dead and more than 700 injured.
The quake destroyed buildings in Izmir and was also felt in Athens and nearby Albania, Macedonia and Bulgaria.
The United States Geological Survey (USGS) measured the tremor's magnitude at 7.0, while Turkish authorities said it was 6.6.
The quake struck 14 kilometres (8.7 miles) northeast of the town of N'eon Karlov'asion on Samos, the USGS reported, at 1:51 pm Greek time (7:51 a.m. ET).
