Why does Harry and Francesca's relationship on Too Hot to Handle feel fake and like a publicity stunt? The trajectory of this couple's romance is raising a few eyebrows and leaving some to speculate its authenticity.
When Harry met Francesca on season 1 of THTH, the aesthetically advantaged cast mates shared an instant attraction. His Australian accent and muscular physique seemed evenly matched to the voluptuous bombshell's confidence. That was one of the first red flags. The producers clearly had a hand in what viewers would see when they tuned in to the show. For all anyone knows, the Harry-Francesca love affair is predicated more on clever editing than actual attraction. Then, there was Francesca's dalliance with ousted cast member Haley Cureton. Francesca might have wound up on the same path to dismissal as Haley for the number of times she broke all the rules. Yet, Haley got the boot because of her sour attitude and inability to really connect with any of the other participants on the show. Meanwhile, Francesca and Harry were built up as a love for the ages. The couple's onscreen path to happily ever after was quick and easy. Perhaps a little too quick and easy.
Harry was a contestant on another dating show called Heartbreak Island not long before joining THTH. Clearly, he craves the spotlight. In April, Harry told Entertainment Tonight, "After quarantine, it's probably going to be a few months [until I see her]," he said of his time apart from Francesca. "At that point, I'll probably be completely driven up the wall. So when I see her, I'll be wanting to put babies in her, and I'll be wanting to marry her." Even Francesca admitted that she's on board with starting a family with her slightly younger lover. That's the second red flag. Two people who once bragged about how shallow they are, and with past ties to reality television, are suddenly the poster children for family values? Not likely.

So what could be behind Francesca and Harry's ruse? Perhaps its the potential for citizenship in other areas. Harry commented on THTH that he was a tiny bit concerned that Francesca was only interested in him for a free pass to live in Australia. Canadian Francesca is a shrewd businesswoman with her own clothing brand. Harry, too, has a burgeoning fashion empire. Having freedom of movement in more than one country could be good for business in the long run. A public engagement and a baby to boot (or at least, talk of one) might expedite this couple's path to foreign residency anywhere in the world. Also worth noting is the timeline of this couple's whirlwind romance. Why do all of Francesca and Harry's relationship milestones coincide with reunion specials or season finales?
While the thought of love at first sight is noble, Francesca and Harry's love affair is a bit too precious and fast-paced to be true. How can two incredibly shallow people suddenly find themselves selfless enough to fall madly in love and live happily ever after? Even by television and movie-making standards, this romance moved fast. The pair has also been so vocal about their desire to live in the same city, that at times, the relationship sounds like one of convenience. The greatest likelihood that Harry and Francesca's love is fake AF is the amount of publicity it's garnered. Many of the other THTH members are distant memories in viewers' minds. After all, nobody's talking about Lydia Clyma, Kori Sampson, or David Birtwistle anymore, are they? The more lovey-dovey Francesca and Harry are when cameras are suspiciously present, the more press they get, and the longer they stay in the spotlight, which only furthers their many ambitions.
