AMANDA Knox has become best friends with penis-chopper Lorena Bobbitt – after they bonded at a true crime festival.
The two women became pals after opening up about life in the limelight – with Knox saying they had “a lot in common”.
She said: “You don’t see shamed and vilified women coming forward supporting each other.”
“People expect people like us to crawl under a rock of our shame. We are showing that not only are we the characters you thought we were.”
American student Knox was accused – and later cleared – of the gruesome killing of her British roommate after she was found dead in the Italian house they shared.
Knox and then-boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito were convicted of stabbing 21-year-old Brit student Kercher to death at a flat in Perugia, Italy, in 2007.
The pair were found guilty in 2009, but freed on appeal two years later.
Their guilty verdict was reinstated in 2014 but quashed by Italy’s top court in March 2015.
Meanwhile Lorena Bobbitt chopped off husband John’s penis with a kitchen knife as he slept on June 23, 1993, in the US state of Virginia.
She drove away in her car with his severed manhood before throwing it into a field.
The penis was reattached again after a police search, in an operation which took nine and a half hours.
