Steamers Snap Skid as Bats Come Alive
The Edenton Steamers snapped their five-game losing streak Saturday night defeating the Martinsville Mustangs in run-rule fashion 18-6.
The run-rule victory is Edenton’s third of the season and second of the week.
The Clams’ biggest inning came in the third when they plated seven runs.
Rob Weissheier hit his fourth homerun of the season, a three-run shot in the third inning.
Alex Alders had himself a night going 3-for-6 with three runs driven in and two stolen bases.
On the night, the Clams stole seven bases.
Grant Crosby made his first start of the season and turned in six solid innings as he picked up the victory.
Lee Cunningham pitched for the second time this year and delievered a scoreless apperance for the second conseutive day.
With the win, Edenton moves within in 1.5 games of the second playoff spot from the North.
Edenton is off Sunday and return home to host Holly Springs Monday night at Historic Hicks Field.
