EAGLE, Colo. (AP) — Central Colorado officials have agreed to invest $500,000 to address a growing urgency for mental health resources in the Eagle area. The Vail Daily reports the funds earmarked this week by the Eagle County Board of Commissioners will jump-start a new mental health program that received support from Eagle County voters in 2017. Last year, voters approved new sales and excise taxes of up to 5 percent on recreational marijuana for a county mental health fund, which would pay for mental health and substance abuse services. Protests during the national anthem marked one of the key stories of the 2017 NFL season, and on Wednesday the league unveiled a new proposal designed to curtail those protests. Protesters now will be required to remain in the locker room or risk a fine for their team. All players on the field will be required to stand and show respect to the flag, or risk being fined.

(AP) — A former executive at the Southern California-based cosmetics company Urban Decay pleaded guilty to embezzling $600,000 from the firm and was immediately sentenced to a year in jail. City News Service reports Ranjeet Reedy Paladugu paid back the money before his plea on Tuesday. Prosecutors say he tried to cash three company checks worth a total of $1.1 million.
