Today’s free horse racing tips: Epsom, Fontwell, Perth, Southwell and Tuanton – Steve Mullen’s betting preview for Wednesday, April 24
EPSOM
2.10
DUKE OF FIRENZE may be knocking on in years now but has gone well here before and starts the new season from a reduced mark. He likes this distance and should be right on the premises again.
Boom The Groom has plenty of pace for this distance and has had a couple of spins on the all-weather so shouldn’t lack for fitness.
Dark Shot has decent form when fresh and should find this easier than the big-field handicap he contested last time out in October.
2.45
CAP FRANCAIS is an interesting runner after this son of Frankel showed lots of promise with two wins and a second last season. He shapes as though this step up to middle distances will bring lots of improvement.
Arthur Kitt was beaten just over two lengths at the Breeders’ Cup last time out over a mile. He’s another who should have a bright season upped to this sort of distance.
Turgenev blew away the cobwebs with a quiet comeback at Newbury last time out. He ran well enough in the Group 1 Futurity Stakes at Doncaster in October and is open to improvement.

MOUNT TAHAN has an each-way shout after being badly hampered on his comeback at Pontefract last time out. His best form has come over this distance and he can run well if showing his all-weather form.
Soto Sizzler will enjoy this extra furlong after staying on strongly at Kempton last time out. He has had a little help from the handicapper and should be on the premises.
Not So Sleepy has winning form at this difficult track and did well over hurdles this winter. Fire Fighting has had a couple of runs so is fine for fitness and has gone well here before.
3.55
AL JELLABY was a good third at Doncaster last time despite looking in need of a longer trip than the mile. He should prefer this longer distance then and has been left alone by the handicapper.
Aquarium has winning form here and was beaten in a tight finish at Chelmsford last time. He’s fit from that run too and looks on a fair weight.
Desert Wind was fourth in the Britannia at Royal Ascot just two runs ago and came back from a long break to finish a good third at Kempton latest. He should build on that.
4.25
CASANOVA showed enough when fourth on his debut at Wolverhampton in November to suggest he can do well at a much higher level. He missed the kick there before finishing well and this son of Frankel could be one to follow.
Current Option went close when third at Newbury last time after being in the lead for a long way. He may need this after six months off but has plenty of ability.
Le Don De Vie drops back to a mile after not seeing out 1m2f at Chelmsford in October and could be capable of better.
5.00
BALLADEER has been in good form on the all-weather and landed a deserved win when scoring at Chelmsford last time out. He sees out this trip well and is open to lots of improvement after just four starts.
Spirit Warning ran better than fourth of four suggests at Wolverhampton last time after a couple of good wins. He looks handicapped for a decent run.
Winter Gleam finished last term with a close second here, beaten just half a length. She’s off the same mark so should be on the premises again.
