RIVAL fans were left fuming as Mohamed Salah was not given offside in the build-up to Liverpool’s equaliser against Southampton.
The home side had taken a shock lead through Shane Long early in the game and were on top for much of the first half.
But as Liverpool pressure built, the Reds had a big decision go their way.
With a ball over the top to Salah, the Egyptian was marginally ahead of the Southampton defence.
The flag stayed down and Salah was through down the right.
To be fair to Liverpool, Southampton had three chances to clear before Naby Keita headed in an equalising goal that could be crucial in a title race as close as this.
But even Reds legend Jamie Carragher admitted the goal shouldn’t have counted – although he didn’t criticise the lino – saying on Sky Sports: “Southampton are complaining for offside. It’s just offside.
“(With VAR) it wouldn’t have counted. His boot was just offside.
“It’s tight and you can’t criticise the referee’s assistant.”
And fans were fuming with the decision.
Former Tottenham midfielder Ryan Mason said on Twitter: “Another offside for Liverpool.”
