Ex-49er Patrick Willis, ex-Raider Darren McFadden in college hall
Former 49ers linebacker Patrick Willis and ex-Raiders’ running back Darren McFadden are among the 13 players selected for induction to the College Football Hall of Fame.
Willis was the SEC Defensive Player of the Year at Mississippi in 2006, when he also won the Dick Butkus Award.
The 49ers selected Willis with their first-round pick in 2007, the 11th overall. He went on to be named to seven Pro Bowls and was a first-team All-Pro five times. Chronic foot injuries forced him to retire in March 2015.
McFadden, who played at Arkansas, was a two-time Heisman runner-up, coming in second behind Ohio State quarterback Troy Smith in 2006 and Florida quarterback Tim Tebow in 2007.
