Trucker charged in Illinois crash that killed 4
EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. (AP) — A Colorado truck driver has been charged with several felony counts of reckless homicide and aggravated reckless driving in a crash last November that killed four people in southwestern Illinois.
In a news release, Madison County State's Attorney Tom Gibbons says 54-year-old Mohamad Y. Jama of Greeley was charged Monday after an Illinois State Police investigation.
The release says the investigation revealed that Jama was driving too fast in a construction zone on Interstate 55 near the community of Hamel when his tractor-trailer slammed into other vehicles that had slowed or stopped.
