Chelsea defender Marcos Alonso has been charged with violent conduct by the English FA following an incident with Southampton’s Shane Long.
The incident was said to have occurred last Saturday during a Premier League game where Chelsea came back to win the tie 3-2.
Marcos Alonso's violent conduct against Shane Long was said not to have been seen by the match officials, but was later caught on video.
The 27-year-old Spanish international has now been told to respond until 6 pm on Wednesday, April 18, or face severe consequence.
If he accepts the charge, the FA Cup semi-final tie would be the second of a three-game ban for him with Chelsea playing at Burnley and Swansea in the League either side of that match.
Already, Chelsea have been dethroned by Manchester City who are now the new Premier League champions, and the Blues' only hope of winning a title this term is now in the FA Cup.
