Early reviews of 'Justice League' say it's 'fun' — but it's no slam dunk
Warner Bros.
- On social media, critics are saying "Justice League" is fun and a course correction for the DC Comics movie franchise.
- While early word is mostly positive and that it's better than "Batman v Superman," many critics agree the story lacks a bit overall and the villain is forgettable.
- Full movie reviews will arrive next week.
Early reactions are out for Warner Bros.' big superhero movie "Justice League," and, so far, they're pretty positive.
That's exactly what the studio needs after tepid response to superhero team ups "Batman v Superman" and "Suicide Squad." By no means are critics' early words glowing, but they're not terrible either. That should at least give fans hoping for a good Batman movie post-Christopher Nolan some hope.
Take these early reactions with a grain of salt. The actual movie reviews will begin publishing November 15 at 2:50 a.m. EST, a mere two days before the film’s release. That's not always the greatest sign for a big tentpole movie such as "Justice League."
So what are critics saying?
It's "fun."
Seriously, the majority of reviewers who have seen the film have used that word to describe it.

so I saw Justice League a week and a half ago. it’s enjoyable and fun! people who thought Man of Steel and BvS were too much of a bummer (this very much includes myself) can feel relieved this is not like that at all.

I saw #JusticeLeague! Here’s what I thought. There are ton of things I’d change but it comes down to this: I had a blast! I got to see the team together and I had fun watching it. Ezra Miller steals the movie and #WonderWoman was perfect! pic.twitter.com/rgCI9fUuTs

#JusticeLeague was good & very fun. It’s going to be popular w/audiences, not only fans but mainstream viewers & families.

#JusticeLeague is a fun, bumpy ride that succeeds in character, but fails in narrative. It’s a mixed bag of execution that’s saved by the actors, who rise above the shortcomings to deliver an engaging, funny and hopeful, yet flawed, entry to the DCEU. @joblocom

SO I saw #JusticeLeague -twice. Still under embargo, but: This is a fun superhero flick. Funny but still hero adventure. Reminds me of JL Unlimited ep. Likable interaction amongst recognizable heroes. There is a villain problem (no worse than Marvel's) - @aaronsagers
If you weren't a fan of "BvS" or "Suicide Squad," then "Justice League" should help repair those wounds.

Re-watched MAN OF STEEL the other night. I am just so in-love with that film.
That Zimmer score is one of the best ever written.
My new DCEU rankings:
1) MAN OF STEEL
2)WONDER WOMAN & BATMAN v SUPERMAN (Ultimate Edition)
3) JUSTICE LEAGUE
4) BvS (theatrical)
37) SUICIDE SQUAD pic.twitter.com/7rmldxTLY6

I actually was one of the few who LOVED man of steel, so for me, no. It’s definitely better than BvS and Suicide Squad. https://t.co/zHj2vbYOUI

#JusticeLeague is perfectly fine. Nobody's going to walk out on cloud nine over what they just saw but there's a pretty good time to be had. Unlucky moviegoers may suffer broken necks due to whiplash from BATMAN V SUPERMAN course correction.
Here's a no-brainer. Wonder Woman steals the movie.

#JusticeLeague is better than BvS and #SuicideSquad - it's lean, mean & packed w/ superhero action. I dug most of its lighter moments & I think it has one of the best action sequences ever in a DCEU movie. And of course Wonder Woman steals the show. pic.twitter.com/rW3UjpBUMk

The MVP will continue to be Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman, who is both fearsome and gracefully maternal here (Elfman’s new arrangement of her theme is the scire’s highlight too). The Amazons also steal the show in their big scene. We could seriously have a Paradise Island film
But she's not the only one.

#JusticeLeague is good!
(And I can finally talk about it!)
Wonder Woman is wonderful, Aquaman is surprisingly cool, Flash is hilarious, Batman is drunk, the story is coherent, and it's all surprisingly funny. It's not perfect, but really enjoyable!

Oh, and yes, The Flash steals the movie #JusticeLeague
https://twitter.com/mims/statuses/929033198037884933?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw
And yeah, I really liked #Aquaman in this (didn't expect to). Enjoyed Affleck's #Batman. Of course Gal's #WonderWoman is great, and Ezra's #TheFlash is a winner. I'm a fan. And I like messages of hope. I'll see it a third time #JusticeLeague
For those who are skeptical of all the praise — it's not a slam dunk.

#JusticeLeague is solid entertainment despite some problems. They pulled off a strange alchemy that works better than it should. The story is lacking, but the League is great and it’s a blast to watch them in action together. Wonder Woman is clutch, obvi.

#JusticeLeague is fine. It's more coherent & less idiosyncratic than Batman v Superman (which I loved, so make of that what you will), and tries very hard to lighten up on the gloom & doom of the DC universe. There are jokes and everything!
https://twitter.com/mims/statuses/929030919599439872?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw
#JusticeLeague was entertaining for a good portion of the time though thin on storytelling and character development. There's more fun, humor and heart than BvS but it also feels very rushed with some scenes given zero time to develop.
https://twitter.com/mims/statuses/929031754849042432?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw
The bad: #JusticeLeague rushes through a lot and its main story/lore and villain are rather stripped down and forgettable.
