The Saratov police are conducting an investigation into the conflict between representatives of the Kurdish and Kazakh diasporas in the Dergachev district of the region. Last Saturday, more than 150 people gathered on the road near the village of Timonino and tried to start a mass brawl, but it was stopped by police officers who arrived at the scene. According to Kommersant’s information, the cause of the conflict was a fight near the recruiting station in Dergachi. Now representatives of national diasporas claim that the incident is over.
Last Saturday, near the village of Timonino, Dergachevsky district of Saratov region, where the Kurdish population compactly lives, the police prevented a mass brawl between its representatives and the Kazakh diaspora. On this day, about 16:30, more than 150 people from two opposing sides gathered near the village. Armed with clubs, fittings and hammers, the participants in the conflict, lined up opposite each other on both sides of the road, began with a verbal skirmish. And then they began to throw stones and other objects at each other. Police officers who arrived at the scene did not allow the mass brawl.
“As a result of the prompt response and the measures taken, violations of public order were not allowed, there were no victims among the participants in the conflict. At present, a check is being carried out on this fact, ”the regional police said.
A Kommersant source in law enforcement agencies explained that the clash was preceded by a clash that took place on October 19 near the recruiting station in Dergachi. “Six young people were summoned: Kurds, Kazakhs and Russians. They didn’t share something. Police officers who arrived in time intervened in the conflict and extinguished it, ”the source told Kommersant. After that, according to him, the young people decided to sort it out separately in the field on the day off. In total, about 40 representatives of the Kurdish community and 130 representatives of the Kazakh community gathered near Timonino, the Kommersant source notes.
“I was told that the situation near the recruiting station was preceded by a conflict with the Dergachev police. A local policeman of Kazakh ethnicity beat up a young Kurd. When he wanted to write a statement, they began to pressure him and said that it would only get worse. And after the story, near the military registration and enlistment office, representatives of Kazakh nationality attacked a Kurdish village in which three Kazakh and four Russian families live, but I think no one would understand. Thanks to the regional police, the officers promptly intervened and did not allow a fight. The local police could not cope and, as the villagers say, on the contrary, seemed to support the attackers. After the incident, according to Yakub Khamidov, the village was cordoned off by riot police officers.
However, a Kommersant source in the law enforcement agencies claims that large-scale involvement of police forces to settle the conflict was not needed, the employees of the Dergachevsky District Ministry of Internal Affairs coped independently. “The local police knew about the planned” arrow “, so the law enforcement agencies were able to prevent the fight on their own,” – said the source of Kommersant. Now, according to him, everything is calm in the area, and reinforcement was introduced after the attempted mass brawl.
The head of the national-cultural autonomy of the Kazakhs of the Saratov region Aidos Arstanov told Kommersant that he knew about the incident superficially. “So far there is nothing concrete to say. I know that at the recruiting station, Kurdish representatives were in conflict with a Kazakh. Now the conflict seems to be over. We were supposed to go to the Dergachevsky district with representatives of the regional ministry of internal policy, but the government was still hung up.
According to Kommersant’s information, on Saturday, Deputy Governor of the Saratov Region Igor Pivovarov, who is in charge of internal politics, went to the Dergachevsky District, but the conflict had been settled by his arrival at the regional center. The administration of the Dergachevsky district declined to comment. The Ministry of Internal Policy and Public Relations of the Saratov Region did not answer calls on Saturday.
