Investigators opened a criminal case after an anti-tank cartridge from the Great Patriotic War exploded in the hands of a 14-year-old teenager in Lobnya. The child died from his injuries, according to the website of the Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the region.
The case was initiated on the fact of illegal arms trafficking and negligence that led to the death of the child (part 2 of article 293 and part 2 of article 222 of the Criminal Code).
Investigators and forensic experts from the Main Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia in the Moscow region arrived at the scene, an examination is being carried out. During the investigation, the investigators will have to establish how the ammunition ended up in the hands of the child. All the circumstances of the incident will be given a legal assessment.
In June of this year, when a shell exploded at a training ground in the Novosibirsk region, five soldiers were injured. The incident took place while the servicemen were working on the installation of a fencing from 122-mm artillery shells, an explosion occurred. On this fact, the investigators opened a criminal case of negligence.
