Report Dimarco texted Dzeko after Italy celebration video went viral
La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Federico Dimarco texted his former Inter teammate Edin Dzeko on Friday after a video of Italy players celebrating Bosnia’s win over Wales went viral on social media.
Dimarco and a group of Italian players were caught on camera celebrating Bosnia and Herzegovina’s penalty shootout win over Wales on Thursday.
The video quickly went viral on social media, upsetting some Bosnia fans.
According to Gazzetta, the FIGC believes the incident was blown out of proportion, yet Dimarco reportedly texted Bosnia captain Dzeko on Friday to explain his reaction.
According to the report (via FcInter1908), the Inter defender and the ex-Nerazzurri star had a friendly exchange via WhatsApp, in which Dimarco clarified the Azzurri’s intentions.
Dimarco and Dzeko spent two years together at Inter, from 2021 to 2023, winning the Coppa Italia and the Supercoppa Italiana twice.
Italy and Bosnia and Herzegovina will meet in the World Cup play-off Final on Tuesday, March 31, in Zenica.
