Bailey set for imminent Aston Villa return from Roma
La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Roma have agreed to end Leon Bailey’s loan stint, so the Jamaica international will return to Aston Villa today.
Roma and Aston Villa have decided to cut short Bailey’s loan spell at the Stadio Olimpico, according to Gazzetta.
Bailey back to Aston Villa after disappointing Roma spell
Bailey struggled with injuries in the first part of the campaign at Roma, collecting barely 300 minutes of football on the pitch.
According to the report, Bailey is expected to return to England today.
Bailey’s Aston Villa return comes just a few days after Donyell Malen’s transfer to Roma from Villa Park.
The Dutch striker has moved to the Olimpico on an initial loan deal with an option to buy to become mandatory if Roma qualify for the Champions League or the Europa League.
Malen’s impact at Roma couldn’t be more different from that of Bailey, as the Netherlands striker only took 26 minutes to score on his debut with the Giallorossi, contributing to a 2-0 win over Torino last Sunday.
