Roma coach Gasperini set for crucial meeting with Ryan Friedkin after transfer protest – report
According to Il Corriere dello Sport, Gian Piero Gasperini is due to meet Ryan Friedkin today in a pivotal discussion over Roma’s transfer plans.
Roma beat Lecce 2-0 on Tuesday with goals courtesy of Evan Ferguson and Artem Dovbyk, but coach Gasperini boycotted post-match interviews to highlight his unhappiness over the club’s transfer strategy.
Gasperini unhappy with Roma transfers
It is no secret that the Italian tactician expects reinforcements in attack, with Giacomo Raspadori and Joshua Zirkzee among his favourite targets for the January window, but negotiations are progressing slowly.
Furthermore, director Frederic Massara said before the Lecce game that signing a new centre-forward was “not an emergency” for Roma.
Despite his recent goals, Gasperini is still not impressed by Ferguson and Dovbyk and has long been asking for attacking reinforcements behind the scenes.
Imminent meeting between Friedkin and Gasperini
According to Corriere dello Sport, the Italian tactician will meet one of the club owners, Ryan Friedkin, today to discuss Roma’s strategy.
Friedkin has been in the capital since January 5, and it remains to be seen whether his father Dan, will also attend the meeting.
In the meantime, reports CorSport, club directors remain in “constant contact” with Gasperini ahead of a meeting that will likely clarify the club’s winter transfer plans.
