Siena basketball team seeks a fill-in for Yale
The Siena men's basketball team suddenly has room for another home game next season.
The Saints were supposed to meet Yale on Dec. 14 at Times Union Center in nonleague play, but lost the Bulldogs when the Ivy League announced Wednesday it is canceling all athletic competition prior to the end of the fall semester because of the coronavirus pandemic.
Siena hasn't announced its nonleague schedule yet. Prior to Wednesday's development, coach Carmen Maciariello said he'd completed the 2020-21 schedule.
Yale's roster includes sophomore guard August Mahoney of Saratoga Springs, an Albany Academy graduate.
MLS: Black Players for Change made its first public demonstration since coming together last month at Wednesday night's opening game of the MLS Is Back tournament in Florida. NBA: The Nets on Thursday signed Michael Beasley as a substitute player. He hasn't played in the NBA since appearing for the Lakers in February 2019. Beasley won't be eligible to play until the sixth of Brooklyn's eight seeding games because he has serve a suspension for violating the drug policy.
