If that game is going to be an all-Bay Area matchup at the Orleans Arena, Santa Clara will have to pull off an upset in a semifinal Monday afternoon.
The fourth-seeded Broncos (23-7) take on top-seeded BYU (25-5).
The Cougars went 16-2 in conference play, own an RPI of 16 and have the WCC Player of the Year in Lexi Rydalch, who’s averaging 24.3 points per game.
The Broncos lost both of their regular-season meetings with the Cougars.
About 30 minutes after the Santa Clara-BYU game, sixth-seeded USF (19-11) faces second-seeded St. Mary’s (24-6).
The Gaels won both of the regular-season matchups with USF, each victory coming by double digits.
Senior guard Lauren Nicholson (17.3 points per game) leads the Gaels in scoring.
Senior forward Taylor Proctor (18.2 ppg, 8.3 rpg) leads the Dons in scoring and rebounding.
