Authorities in Rwanda say one person was killed in a stampede at a reelection rally for President Paul Kagame in a remote western area of the country. Local government officials say at least 37 others were injured in the event in Rubavu, four of them seriously. Kagame is seeking reelection in polls set for July 15. One of Secretary of State Antony Blinken's most senior aides is leaving for a top job with Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and will be replaced by a brother of President Joe Biden's national security adviser. Blinken said Monday that State Department counselor Derek Chollet, a veteran of national security positions in Democratic presidential administrations, will become Austin's chief of staff. A man who was struck by a steel roller coaster at an Ohio theme park last week after he entered a restricted area to retrieve his lost keys has died from his injuries. Kings Island theme park near Cincinnati has said Arntanaro Nelson entered a fenced area there Wednesday night. The 38-year-old Wilmington man was found on the ground with a “critical injury” and died Friday at a hospital. The Supreme Court has rejected two appeals related to COVID-19 vaccines from Children’s Health Defense, the anti-vaccine nonprofit founded by independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. The justices did not comment Monday in letting stand rulings against the group from the federal appeals courts in New Orleans and Philadelphia. The Supreme Court has agreed to intervene for the second time in a dispute between Hungary and Holocaust survivors who want to be compensated for property confiscated from them during World War II. The justices said Monday they will hear arguments in the fall in Hungary’s latest bid to end the lawsuit filed 14 years ago by survivors, all of whom are now over 90, and heirs of survivors. Some survived being sent to the Auschwitz death camp in Poland. The issue in the case concerns whether an American court is the proper forum for the lawsuit.

South Korea’s military says North Korea has launched more balloons likely carrying trash toward South Korea. A Joint Chiefs of Staff statement says the balloons are moving south. It asks South Korean citizens not to touch North Korean balloons and report them to military and police authorities.

South Korea’s military says North Korea has launched more balloons likely carrying trash toward it.

A draft report from the leading international authority on hunger crises says an influx of aid appears to have eased conditions in northern Gaza for now. But it says the entire territory remains at “high risk” of famine after Israel’s offensive in Rafah caused displacement and the disruption of aid operations in the south. The draft report says nearly everyone in Gaza is struggling to get enough food and that more than 495,000 people are expected to experience the highest level of starvation in the coming months. A huge train bridge has collapsed in the Sioux City, Iowa, area during flooding in the Midwest that has led to evacuations and killed at least one person. Buckingham Palace says Princess Anne has sustained minor injuries and a concussion following an incident on an estate in southwest England. The 73-year-old sister of King Charles III has been hospitalized as a precautionary measure for observation and is expected to make a full recovery. The palace said the incident happened on Sunday on the Gatcombe Park estate. It did not offer details.
