ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) — Bears and moose are a common sight on Alaska roadways, but drivers in the state's largest city had a whole different animal problem Wednesday. KTUU reports (http://bit.ly/2wGzsLO) police received a call about loose sheep and a ram wandering through traffic in south Anchorage. A dispatch from police said a nearby resident was able to corral the animals into a fenced area. The owner was located and will be united with the livestock.

Charles Burnett, Owen Roizman, Donald Sutherland and Agnes Varda will receive Honorary Awards at the 9th Annual Governors Awards on Nov. 11, the Academy announced Wednesday. “This year’s Governors Awards reflect the breadth of international, independent and mainstream filmmaking, and are tributes to four great artists whose work embodies the diversity of our shared humanity,” said Academy President John Bailey in a statement. BOSTON (AP) — A proposed Massachusetts ballot question that would require presidential candidates to release their tax returns from the prior six years to secure a spot on the state primary ballot cleared a key hurdle Wednesday. COLD SPRING, Minn. (AP) — Students at a central Minnesota high school are flying American flags on their pickup trucks to protest a recent ban. Rocori High School in Cold Spring has changed the student handbook to ban all flags and banners on vehicles in the school parking lot. OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — A Nebraska woman is lending her wedding dress to brides on tight budgets instead of letting it gather dust in her closet. Dawnetta Heinz started sharing her dress a month ago with brides who can't afford to buy one, the Omaha World-Herald reported . WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump are donating $1 million to 12 charities involved in Harvey relief efforts. The White House says the American Red Cross, Salvation Army, Samaritan's Purse and Reachout America will share $800,000 of the donation. (AP) — A man already accused of having fired shots at a group in Philadelphia has been arraigned on first-degree murder and other charges in a slaying less than an hour later near the city. MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — Tennessee officials say the head of the state-run Achievement School District is resigning. Tennessee Education Commissioner Candice McQueen said in a news release Wednesday that Achievement School District Superintendent Malika Anderson is stepping down at the end of the month. DETROIT (AP) — The owner of the Ambassador Bridge linking Detroit and Windsor, Ontario, says it has received Canadian approval to build a six-lane span next to the existing bridge.
