In his trial, district attorney denies aiming gun at people
BRANDON, Miss. (AP) — A jury is deciding whether the district attorney in Mississippi's most populous county is guilty of stalking and robbery.
Testimony in the trial of Hinds County District Attorney Robert Shuler Smith concluded Wednesday after Smith took the stand in his defense.
Smith is charged in relation to a 2015 incident involving former girlfriend Christie Edwards.
News outlets report witnesses said Smith found a man in a closet who was having an affair with Edwards. She says Smith threw her around and then took her gun.
Smith contradicts those witnesses, saying he never pointed a gun at Edwards or the other man.
