Colin Kaepernick not voting is like waving a white flag
Goodbye, Colin Kaepernick.
This is where we part ways. Not that it’s a major breakup, like Simon and Garfunkel. You and I have haven’t even had a conversation, beyond a few brief exchanges in football locker rooms.
I remain 100 percent in support of the protest movement you started two seasons ago. The day your sit-down protest first became news, I cut short a family vacation to write a column defending you.
I admired your courage, and your growth as a spokesman for your cause, and that hasn’t changed. I criticized your wardrobe — pig socks and Castro shirt — but hoped those were minor missteps.
The reason I now withdraw my support for you personally is over the issue of voting.
