Man charged with 5th DUI gets 6 years in prison
GULFPORT, Miss. (AP) — A Mississippi man charged in 2016 with his fifth DUI offense has been sentenced to six years in prison.
WLOX-TV reports 40-year-old Brad Lee Heflin pleaded guilty Monday to driving under the influence. The newspaper says police responding to a report of a careless driver in Gulfport found Heflin, who police say smelled of alcohol.
Police say a bottle of whiskey was sitting in the passenger seat, and a breath test of Heflin tested positive for alcohol. Assistant District Attorney Mitch Owen says Heflin's blood-alcohol level was .22 percent, which is above the legal driving limit of .08 percent.
