Barge fire in Seattle ruled accidental
SEATTLE (AP) — Seattle fire officials say a blaze that broke out on a barge holding crushed cars and other metal has been ruled accidental.
Tuesday's fire on the barge in the Duwamish River in South Seattle caused about $1 million in damages.
KOMO-TV reports that investigators haven't yet said what caused the fire, which sent thick black smoke into the sky.
State environmental regulators and others responded to the scene. An Ecology Department spokesman said Wednesday that crews did not see any oil sheen on the water and didn't see any distressed wildlife. A boom was placed around the barge as a precaution.
