Chronicle hike yields La Honda’s coastal hill treasures
On a 1,000-foot coastal ridge outside of La Honda, you need a 360-degree swivel on your neck to take in all of it.
In the morning, facing west with the sun at your back, you can see across to the ocean, where a patchy fog line often hovers at water’s edge. In the afternoon, you can turn to the east and see across miles of ridges, valleys and ravines and beyond to Skyline, including across 6,100 acres of the newly opened La Honda Creek Open Space Preserve.
As the Bay Area’s newest major recreation area, La Honda Creek Open Space was chosen as the site of a group hike for Chronicle subscribers/members.
