Longball legends: Reggie Jackson admires Steph Curry’s quest for back-to-back titles
The old long-ball legend plopped into a courtside seat 90 minutes before Sunday’s Game 2 of the NBA Finals and locked his attention on the new long-ball legend.
Reggie Jackson, who once clouted homers next door for the Oakland A’s, and who hit 563 long balls in his 21-year career, came to the game early to watch Stephen Curry warm up.
If anyone knows the entertainment value of a good pregame warm-up, it’s Jackson. When Reggie was the game’s preeminent slugger, fans arrived early to ooh and aah at his batting practice.
Jackson, 72, is fit, but a bit slow getting around. Twelve weeks ago, attending Yankees’ spring training, he slipped and blew out the patellar tendon in his right knee.
