Herbicides to be applied by helicopter in West Virginia
CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) — Appalachian Power plans to start applying herbicides by helicopter this week to maintain rights of way for some West Virginia power lines.
Utility forester Travis Klinebriel says the work is done in less populated areas where it's harder for ground-based crews to clear rights of way safely.
Counties where aerial applications will be made are Boone, Cabell, Fayette, Jackson, Kanawha, Lincoln, Logan, Mason, McDowell, Mercer, Mingo, Nicholas, Raleigh, Summers, Wayne and Wyoming.
Residents interested in clearing rights of way crossing their property instead of having aerial application or who want to let the company know about sensitive areas near power lines should contact American Electric Power.
